Switch kit
Move your paycheck in fifteen minutes
Switching banks stalls on one thing: the direct deposit form. Our switch kit fills it out for you, tracks what still needs moving, and keeps your old account open until it is safe to close.
Four steps, start to finish
Most members finish in one sitting. The only thing you need is your employer's name.
Open your Summit account
About five minutes online with your ID and Social Security number. You will have your account and routing numbers immediately, before the card arrives.
Generate your deposit form
Enter your employer and we produce a completed, signed direct deposit authorization with the right numbers already filled in. Download it or send it to payroll from the app.
Move recurring payments
The kit reviews ninety days of your old statements and lists every subscription, insurance premium, and autopay so nothing gets missed.
Close the old account
Wait for two full pay cycles to land at Summit, confirm the list is clear, then close the old account. We will tell you when it is safe.

Before you start
What to have within reach
None of this is unusual paperwork. Gathering it first is what turns a two-week switch into a fifteen-minute one, because you never have to stop and go looking mid-form.
What the kit handles for you
The tedious parts are the parts we automated.
A completed payroll form
Pre-filled with your account number, our routing number, and your signature. Most payroll departments accept it as submitted.
Automatic payment discovery
We scan ninety days of history and surface every recurring charge, including the annual ones people always forget.
A running checklist
Each item is marked moved, pending, or not needed, so you always know what is left without keeping notes.
A safe-to-close signal
We watch for two clean pay cycles and no stray debits before telling you the old account can be closed.
Early pay from day one
The first deposit that lands at Summit posts as soon as your employer sends it, up to two days before payday.
A person if you want one
Bring your statements into any of our 42 branches and an advisor will do the whole switch with you at the desk.

Common questions
How long until my paycheck actually arrives at Summit?
Payroll departments typically need one to two pay cycles to process the change. Keep enough in the old account to cover anything still drafting from it during that window.
Can I split my paycheck between two accounts?
Most employers allow it, and the switch kit will generate the form for a split. A common setup sends a fixed amount to High-Yield Savings and the remainder to checking.
Should I close my old account right away?
No. Wait until two full pay cycles have landed at Summit and no debits have hit the old account for thirty days. Closing early is the single most common cause of a returned payment.
What if a payment bounces during the switch?
Call us. If a merchant charged you a returned payment fee because of a Summit-side delay during the switch, we will reimburse it. Summit does not charge an NSF fee of its own on checking.
Does my employer have to use a form?
Not always. Many payroll portals let you enter the routing and account numbers directly, which is faster. The kit shows both numbers clearly so you can type them in.
Can I switch if I am self-employed?
Yes. Instead of a payroll form, the kit helps you update the deposit details with your payment processors and clients, and the recurring payment checklist works exactly the same.
Fifteen minutes, then it is done
Start the switch kit online, or bring your last three statements into a branch and let an advisor handle it.
