Card Services
Freeze it first, then call us
A lost card can be frozen in the app in about five seconds. Our fraud line answers 24 hours a day, and zero liability protection means you do not pay for charges you did not make.
What to do right now
In that order. Freezing is instant and reversible, so do it before you finish searching the couch.
Freeze the card in the app
Open Cards, tap the card, and switch on Freeze. New purchases, cash advances, and wallet payments stop immediately. Unfreeze it yourself if the card turns up.
Call us if it was stolen
Reach the fraud line at 1-800-555-0199, any hour, any day. If the card was taken rather than misplaced, we close the number outright and issue a new one.
Review recent transactions
Scroll the last two weeks in the app and flag anything you do not recognize. Reporting fraud in writing within 60 days of the statement preserves every protection you have.
What protects you
None of this costs anything extra. It is standard on every Summit card.
Zero liability protection
You are not responsible for unauthorized purchases made with your card or number, provided you report them promptly and did not authorize the person who made them.
Instant freeze in the app
A freeze takes effect at the network, not just on your phone, so it blocks a card sitting in someone else's pocket. Recurring payments you have set up keep running.
A person, around the clock
The fraud line is staffed every hour of every day, including holidays. Abroad, call collect at 1-716-555-0199 and we accept the charges.

What to expect afterward
Replacement timing, and what it costs you.
A standard replacement arrives in three to five business days at no charge. Rush delivery is $25 and usually lands the next business day, waived when the card was stolen. If you bank in the app, a digital card number is available within minutes of the report so you can keep paying for things while the plastic is in transit. Provisional credit for disputed charges is normally applied within ten business days while the claim is investigated.
Common questions
Should I freeze the card or report it lost?
Freeze it if you think it is somewhere in your house or car, because a freeze is reversible and keeps your number. Report it lost or stolen once you are reasonably sure it is gone, which retires the number for good.
Am I responsible for charges made before I noticed?
Under zero liability you are not responsible for unauthorized charges, whenever they occurred, as long as you report them within 60 days of the statement that shows them. Report promptly and the protection is complete.
What happens to my automatic payments?
A freeze leaves existing recurring payments running. Closing the number stops them, so update your utilities, insurance, and subscriptions once the replacement arrives.
My card was skimmed but I still have it. What then?
Call the fraud line and we will close that number and issue a new card. Possession of the plastic does not help once the number is circulating.
Does reporting fraud affect my credit?
No. Fraud claims are not reported to the bureaus, and disputed amounts are excluded from your balance and minimum payment while we investigate.
What if it happens while I am overseas?
Call collect at 1-716-555-0199. Visa can arrange an emergency card, typically within 48 hours in most countries, and we can wire emergency cash to a nearby location if you need it.
We answer at three in the morning
Freeze the card yourself in the app, or call the fraud line and let us handle the rest.
