Banking that works for everyone

Summit is committed to meeting WCAG 2.1 Level AA across our website, mobile app, branches, and ATMs. If something gets in your way, tell us and we will fix it.

Our commitment

A credit union that belongs to its members has to be usable by all of them. Summit works to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium, and we treat those guidelines as a floor rather than a finish line.

That commitment covers this website, the Summit mobile app for iOS and Android, our digital banking platform, statements and disclosures, our 42 branches, and every ATM we own. Where a service is provided by a vendor, we require accessibility conformance as a condition of the contract.

Where we stand today

Our most recent third-party audit was completed in March 2026 by an independent accessibility firm and covered the public website, the digital banking platform, and the mobile app. It found substantial conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The remaining findings are tracked publicly in our remediation log and are scheduled for completion by the end of 2026.

We are honest about the fact that this work is never finished. Every release goes through automated and manual testing, but new content and new features can introduce problems. Member reports are how we catch what testing misses, and we treat them as bug reports rather than complaints.

What we have done

Concrete changes shipped over the past two years, not a statement of intent.

Contrast and type sizing

Every text and interface color meets or exceeds a 4.5 to 1 contrast ratio. Pages reflow cleanly at 200% zoom and respect the text size set in your operating system.

Full keyboard operation

Every function, including transfers, mobile deposit review, and loan applications, can be completed without a mouse. Focus indicators are visible and a skip-to-content link opens each page.

Screen reader support

We test with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack each release. Headings are properly nested, form fields carry real labels, and account balances announce as figures rather than raw digits.

Talking ATMs everywhere

All 42 branch locations and every Summit-owned ATM offer audio guidance through a standard headphone jack, tactile keypads, and adjustable screen timing.

Statements in your format

Statements, disclosures, and tax forms are available in large print, Braille, and audio at no charge. Digital statements are tagged PDFs that read correctly in assistive technology.

Staff who are trained for it

Branch and phone staff complete annual disability etiquette and accommodation training, and every branch has employees who can arrange an interpreter on request.

Reporting a barrier

If any part of Summit is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to hear about it directly. Call the Accessibility Response Line at 1-800-555-0179, available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Pacific, or email accessibility@summitfcu.example. TTY and TRS users can reach us by dialing 711 and then our main number, 1-800-555-0148.

It helps if you can tell us the page or screen where the problem occurred, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology, browser, or device you were using. None of that is required. A description in your own words is enough for us to start.

We acknowledge every report within one business day and give you a substantive response within ten business days, including a fix date or an explanation of why more time is needed. If the issue blocks you from completing a transaction, we will complete it for you by phone or in a branch while the fix is in progress.

Requesting an accommodation

You do not need to file a report to ask for an accommodation. Members can request American Sign Language interpretation at any branch appointment with three business days' notice, alternate-format documents at no charge, an accessible parking and entrance route confirmed before you arrive, or extra time and a private space for account and loan discussions.

Alternative ways to bank

The website and app are not the only ways to reach us, and none of the alternatives cost more or offer worse rates. Member advisors at 1-800-555-0148 can complete any transaction you can do online, including transfers, bill payments, applications, and account opening, seven days a week.

All 42 branches are wheelchair accessible with automatic doors, lowered teller windows, and accessible restrooms. If travel is difficult, a member advisor can visit you at home within 30 miles of a branch to open accounts or sign loan documents. Notary and signature services are included at no charge either way.

You can also bank by mail at Summit Federal Credit Union, 1948 Cascade Avenue, Suite 400, Portland, Oregon 97204, and postage-paid deposit envelopes are free on request.

Standards and feedback

This statement was last reviewed in July 2026. Summit measures conformance against WCAG 2.1 Level AA and applies Section 508 standards to the documents we produce. If you believe we have fallen short of those standards, tell us and we will explain what we found and what we are doing about it.

Rates current as of July 2026 and subject to change. Membership eligibility required. This is a demonstration website; rates, products, and figures shown are illustrative only.

Common questions

What is WCAG 2.1 Level AA?

It is an international standard for making digital content usable by people with disabilities, covering things like color contrast, keyboard access, and compatibility with screen readers. Level AA is the tier most regulators and courts treat as the benchmark.

How quickly do you fix reported problems?

Issues that block a member from completing a transaction are treated as critical and targeted for resolution within five business days. Everything else enters the normal release cycle with a committed date we share with you.

Do you charge for alternate formats?

No. Large print, Braille, and audio versions of statements, disclosures, and tax documents are free, and there is no limit on how many you request.

Can I get an ASL interpreter at a branch?

Yes, at no cost. Give us three business days' notice for an in-person interpreter, or ask for video remote interpreting, which we can usually start within a few minutes.

Is the mobile app as accessible as the website?

It is held to the same standard and tested with VoiceOver and TalkBack every release. It also supports Dynamic Type, reduced motion, and system-level contrast settings.

Who at Summit is responsible for this?

Our Accessibility Program Office reports to the Chief Operating Officer and publishes progress to the board twice a year. Accountability sits with named staff, not a committee.
