Card Services
Ready to use in two minutes
Activate your new Summit card in the app, over the phone, or in online banking. Then set a PIN and add it to your phone before the envelope hits the recycling.
Three ways to activate
Pick whichever is nearest to hand. All three take effect immediately.
In the Summit app
Sign in, open Cards, and tap Activate next to the new card. Confirm the last four digits and the expiration date and you are done.
By phone, any hour
Call 1-800-555-0148 from the number we have on file. The automated system activates the card in under a minute, and a person is available if you would rather.
In online banking
Sign in at summitfcu.org, choose Card Services, then Activate a Card. You will need the card number and the security code on the back.

Digital wallet
Add it to your phone next
A card in a digital wallet earns the same rewards, carries the same protections, and is harder to skim than the plastic. If your card is ever lost, the wallet keeps working the moment we issue a replacement number.
While you have it in hand
Three small things worth doing on activation day.
Choose a PIN
Set a four-digit PIN in the app under Card Services, or call the number above. Avoid birth years and repeated digits; the system rejects the obvious ones.
Turn on alerts
Push or text alerts on every purchase above an amount you pick. Nothing catches a fraudulent charge faster than knowing about it the same minute.
Destroy the old card
Once the new card is active, cut through the chip and the magnetic stripe. Update any recurring payments still pointed at the old number.
Rates current as of July 2026 and subject to change. Membership eligibility required. This is a demonstration website; rates, products, and figures shown are illustrative only.
Common questions
How long does activation take to work?
It is immediate. As soon as the confirmation appears you can use the card at any terminal, and in a digital wallet within a couple of minutes.
My card has not arrived. How long should it take?
Five to seven business days from approval by standard mail. If it has been longer than ten, call us and we will cancel that card and rush a replacement at no charge.
Do I have to activate a replacement card too?
Yes, every card we issue arrives inactive, including renewals with the same number. Activating a renewal automatically retires the expiring card.
Can I activate a card that is not in my name?
No. Each cardholder activates their own card, including authorized users, because activation confirms identity. An authorized user can call the same number from their own phone.
What if I forget my PIN?
Reset it in the app under Card Services or by calling us, and the new PIN works immediately. We cannot tell you your existing PIN, only replace it.
Will my recurring payments move to the new card?
If the number stayed the same, they continue without interruption. If the number changed, most large merchants are updated through Visa Account Updater, but check any small subscriptions yourself.
