Work where the customers own it
Summit employs about 1,340 people across 42 branches and a contact center. There are no sales quotas, no products you would be embarrassed to explain, and 24 paid hours a year to go do something useful.
What Summit offers
Benefits start on day one. Not after 90 days, not after a probationary period.
Health coverage from day one
Medical, dental, and vision with the credit union covering 85% of the employee premium and 70% for dependents. No waiting period.
8% retirement contribution
A 5% match on the 401(k) plus a 3% non-elective contribution whether or not you contribute anything. Vested at two years.
Paid time that keeps up
Nineteen days of paid time off in year one, rising with tenure, plus eleven holidays and 24 hours of paid volunteer time.
$5,250 a year for tuition
Degree programs, certificates, and professional credentials are reimbursed annually, with no requirement that the field relate to your current role.
Twelve weeks of parental leave
Fully paid, for any new parent, birth or adoption, with a phased return schedule for the first month back if you want one.
Promotion from within
Roughly one in four employees started in a branch or contact center role, including the chief member experience officer, who was a part-time teller in 2004.

Why people stay
No quotas, no products to push
Branch and contact center staff at Summit are not paid on product sales and have no individual sales goals. Performance is measured on whether members' problems get resolved and whether they come back. That single decision, made in 2015, is the most common thing new hires say surprised them.
Median tenure is 7.4 years and voluntary turnover last year was 11%, against an industry figure closer to 25%. We are not perfect, but we are honest about the numbers, and they get published internally every quarter.
The hiring process
Four steps, about three weeks, and you hear back either way.
Apply in about ten minutes
No cover letter required and no account to create. Every application is read by a person, and you get a decision within seven days.
A 30-minute conversation
A recruiter call to talk about the role, the schedule, and the pay band, which we share up front rather than making you ask.
Meet the team
One hour with the hiring manager and one with two teammates. Technical roles include a practical exercise scoped to fit inside that hour, not homework.
Offer and background check
Written offer with full benefits detail, then the background and bonding check required for financial institution employees. Most people start within three weeks.

Summit Federal Credit Union is an equal opportunity employer. Employment is contingent on a background and bonding check required of financial institution employees.
Common questions
Do I need banking experience?
Not for branch, contact center, or many operations roles. We hire regularly from retail, hospitality, and healthcare, and provide six weeks of paid training before you serve a member alone.
Are roles remote?
Technology, contact center, and several risk and lending support roles are fully remote within the United States. Branch roles are on-site, and most corporate roles are hybrid at two days a week.
Is pay disclosed before I apply?
Yes. Every posting lists the pay band, and the recruiter confirms where in that band your offer would likely land during the first call.
Will a past credit issue disqualify me?
Rarely. Financial institutions must run a bonding check, but a thin file or a resolved past hardship is not automatically disqualifying. Unresolved fraud or dishonesty convictions are.
Do employees have to be members?
Employees are eligible to join and most do, but it is not required. Employee accounts receive no special rates, and staff cannot access their own or a family member's account records.
What if I do not hear back?
You will. Every applicant receives a decision within seven days of applying, including a no. If a week passes without word, write to the recruiting team and we will find your file.
