Vehicle Protection Plans

Coverage for the expensive surprises

Mechanical breakdown insurance and tire and wheel protection, offered at member cost with no dealer markup. Add either one when you finance, or within 90 days after.

Two plans, sold honestly

A dealer typically marks these products up 100% or more. We price them at cost plus administration and let you cancel for a prorated refund at any time.

Mechanical breakdown insurance

Covers the parts that fail expensively: engine, transmission, drive axle, electrical, air conditioning, and high-tech components. Terms from 12 to 84 months.

Tire and wheel protection

Repairs or replaces tires and wheels damaged by potholes, nails, glass, and debris, including mounting, balancing, and the road hazard fee.

Cancel any time

Full refund within the first 60 days if you have not filed a claim, and a prorated refund after that. Coverage transfers if you sell the vehicle privately.

What mechanical breakdown insurance covers

Read both columns. The second one is where most complaints about these products come from.

Covered

Engine, transmission, transfer case, and drive axle assemblies
Air conditioning, heating, and the electrical system
Navigation screens, backup cameras, and driver assistance sensors
Towing, rental reimbursement, and 24-hour roadside assistance

Not covered

Routine maintenance: oil changes, filters, brake pads, and alignments
Wear items such as wiper blades, belts, hoses, and batteries
Collision, flood, vandalism, or anything your auto insurance handles
Damage from missed maintenance, racing, or commercial use

Common questions

Do I have to buy this when I finance?

Never. Protection plans are optional, they are not a condition of your loan, and your rate does not change either way.

Can I add coverage after I have bought the car?

Yes, within 90 days of your loan closing, as long as the vehicle is under 100,000 miles. After that window we can still quote it, usually at a higher price.

Where can I have the work done?

Any licensed repair facility in the United States or Canada, including dealerships and independent shops. The administrator pays the shop directly, so you are out only the deductible.

Does this overlap with my factory warranty?

It can. If your vehicle still has substantial factory coverage, ask us to quote a plan that starts when the warranty ends. You should not pay twice for the same protection.

What happens if I pay the loan off early?

The coverage continues for its full term. Protection plans are tied to the vehicle, not to the loan, and the refund clock is based on time and mileage used.

Is tire and wheel worth it?

It depends on your roads and your wheels. A single 20-inch alloy wheel and low-profile tire can run $900 to replace, which the plan covers in full with no deductible.
